Job Summary The counsellor will be responsible for Bahaal Foundation’s psychosocial support initiative designed to address the emotional and mental health needs of persons with spinal cord injuries and their families. The project creates safe, supportive spaces for individuals to process life after injury, rebuild confidence, strengthen coping strategies, and navigate changes in identity, relationships, and daily life. Support is provided through tele support, one-on-one sessions, peer spaces, and guided group interactions. The Counsellor will lead the delivery of psychosocial support under the Mind Over Matter project while also supporting administrative coordination across Bahaal Foundation’s programmes. This role blends direct engagement with beneficiaries and families with tasks such as documentation, scheduling, and communication. The ideal candidate is empathetic, organised, and comfortable working in both supportive counselling environments and structured administrative roles. This is a hybrid position, involving virtual sessions, field visits, and coordination work. Key Roles and Responsibilities

• Conduct basic psychosocial assessments to understand individual needs and concerns
• Provide individual supportive counselling sessions to persons with spinal cord injuries (in-person and virtual)
• Offer tele-support sessions for beneficiaries who require remote emotional support
• Identify early signs of depression, anxiety, trauma, or social withdrawal and respond appropriately
• Facilitate group support circles and guided peer interactions
• Support families and caregivers in understanding emotional adjustment after SCI
• Help beneficiaries develop coping strategies, confidence, and emotional resilience
• Maintain confidential case notes and progress documentation
• Make referrals to clinical psychologists, psychiatrists, or other specialists when required
• Contribute to the development of session tools, wellbeing resources, and support materials
• Participate in case review discussions with the team (while maintaining confidentiality standards)
• Support psychosocial awareness sessions during community programmes and workshops

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Psychology, Counselling, Social Work, or related fields
• Training in Trauma-Informed Approaches in Mental Health Care
• Additional certification or formal training in counselling or psychosocial support is preferred
• Experience providing tele-counselling or remote emotional support is an advantage
• 0–3 years of experience in counselling, mental health support, or community-based psychosocial work
• Experience working with persons with disabilities or in healthcare/community settings is an advantage
• Understanding of boundaries, ethics, and confidentiality in counselling practice

Language Requirements

• Proficiency in English
• Working knowledge of Kannada, Tulu, and Hindi

• Willingness to travel for occasional field visits and in-person sessions

Job Summary The Project Coordinator will be responsible for planning, implementing, and monitoring Bahaal Foundation’s programmes, particularly those related to rehabilitation, community outreach, and psychosocial support for persons with spinal cord injuries. The role requires strong coordination skills, stakeholder engagement, documentation, and the ability to work closely with beneficiaries, partners, and field teams. The coordinator will work closely with beneficiaries, families, hospitals, therapists, trainers, and partner organisations to ensure activities are delivered smoothly, inclusively, and with high quality. The role requires strong planning, communication, documentation, and follow-up skills, as well as sensitivity to disability and community realities. This is a hybrid role combining field visits, coordination meetings, and documentation/reporting. Key Roles and Responsibilities • Coordinate day-to-day implementation of project activities across field locations • Liaise with beneficiaries, caregivers, hospitals, rehabilitation professionals, schools/colleges, and partner organisations • Support planning, organising and execution of training programmes, workshops, and community sessions • Develop and maintain an active network and linkages with other like-minded organisations, institutions, and various stakeholders in the community and among the government • Identify vendors and procure office supplies and other related materials as per the directions of the Director • Coordinate inputs from beneficiaries, volunteers, and contribute to the preparation of monthly/quarterly/annual reports related to the programs • Prepare and maintain accurate project documentation (records and reports) with relevant photos/videos • Track project progress, outputs, and outcomes in line with organisational goals • Ensure periodic follow-up of beneficiaries identified and services rendered to • Develop and maintain good rapport with all beneficiaries and concerned stakeholders • Assist in monitoring and evaluation activities, including data collection and analysis • Ensure activities are inclusive, accessible, and aligned with disability rights principles • Work closely with the core team to strengthen programme quality and reach Required Qualifications and Experience • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Social Work, Rural Development, or related fields • Minimum 1–3 years of relevant experience in the development or non-profit sector (disability sector experience preferred) • Experience in community-based work, rehabilitation programmes, or health-related projects is an advantage • Strong organisational and coordination skills • Good documentation and report-writing ability • Ability to work empathetically with persons with disabilities and their families • Strong communication and interpersonal skills • Problem-solving mindset and ability to work independently • Comfortable using MS Office/Google Workspace for documentation and reporting • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines Language Requirements • Proficiency in English • Working knowledge of Kannada, Tulu, and Hindi Other Requirements • Willingness to travel for field visits and community work • Sensitivity to disability, inclusion, and gender issues • Ability to work in a small, growing organisation with a collaborative team culture • Commitment to the mission and values of Bahaal Foundation To apply, please email your CV and a cover letter outlining your relevant experience and skills for the role to hr@bahaal.org and admin@bahaal.org.
